Vol. 1 No. 2 (2011): Fire Management in Protected Areas

#AudioDescription: The cover of this edition of the scientific journal BioBrasil – Brazilian Biodiversity presents a striking visual composition on the theme “Fire Management in Protected Areas”. The main image depicts a scene of fighting and controlling fires in natural vegetation, marked by intense tones of red, orange and gray, with the presence of environmental firefighters. The composition is divided by vertical stripes that function as visual cutouts, highlighting different aspects of fire management. On the left, a firefighter dressed in yellow works near the flames in an area of dry vegetation. In the center, a strip shows a column of smoke rising amid the landscape, highlighting the severity of the fire. On the right side, the fire in the foreground takes over the vegetation, but, to the side, a symbolic image of hope appears: a hand holds a plant seedling with soil, ready to be replanted in a restored environment. At the top of the cover, there is the logo of the journal BioBrasil, followed by the subtitle “Brazilian Biodiversity – Scientific Journal”. The ICMBio logo – Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation with the MMA – Ministry of the Environment brand appears in the lower left corner. In the footer, on a light green background, the title of the issue can be read: “Thematic Issue: Fire Management in Protected Areas” with the information: Year 1, Issue 2 – 2011”.
